December 22nd, 2017 just a couple days before christmas, my sister and I surprised my mother with a surprise dinner for her 60th birthday. My sister, Amy, made the reservation a month prior so we could secure a room while my parents were up from Florida, visiting for Christmas. Her birthday isn’t until January 11th, which made the surprise even sweeter. We ate dinner at Gibbet Hill in Groton, Massachusetts, a farm to table restaurant.
We were venturing out in a snowstorm for the surprise but once we got there the atmosphere was beautiful! Fire was roaring in the fireplace, and it had an overall antique, rustic feel. We set up giant gold balloons, tied to the back of mom’s chair, displaying “60”.
Our dinner was held in the Silo room which was small and intimate, perfect for the occasion. The kids, Josh and I stood near her balloons and the look of surprise on her face made the treck in the snowstorm completely worth it. Dinner was amazing and we were able to bring our own cake which the server brought out with a candle. My sister, Amy and I had also come up with 60 things we love about our mom, which was printed and displayed them in a frame. A most perfect gift for a wonderful mother.
(This entire display was made of candy!)
